The emotion wheel poster, and emotion characters have turned our classroom into a safe, supportive space where students can name what they are feeling and learn that all emotions are okay. Many of my students struggle with big feelings, and having visual supports and tangible items has helped them pause, identify their emotions and communicate them.\r\n\r\nIn addition to using these materials during lessons, I also create take home activities so students can practice their social-emotional skills with their families. The worksheets and emotion tools allow them to reflect on their feelings, set goals, and build confidence outside of school as well. To keep students motivated, they earn small rewards such as fidget toys, cute pens to journal, journals, calming breathing stickers, and positive message items when they try their best and use their coping skills.
