Because of your generosity, my K–5 students now have access to wonderful supplemental literacy tools that are already making a meaningful difference in their confidence and reading growth.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting additions has been the Lakeshore multisyllabic and CVC touch-dot decoding strips. My students absolutely love using these during decoding practice. The touch dots help them slow down and focus on each sound and syllable, which is especially important for developing readers who benefit from structured, multisensory instruction. During small-group reading time, I've watched students who previously felt overwhelmed by longer words begin to break them apart with confidence. It has been incredibly rewarding to see students read challenging words and they find it enjoyable and fun.\r\n\r\nThe Amazon decodable readers have also been a big hit in our classroom. Because the books align with the phonics skills, they allow my students to immediately apply their new skills by reading an aligned text. One of my favorite moments happened when a student who had been hesitant to read aloud volunteered to read an entire page from one of the decodable books to our group. With the support of the phonics patterns in the text, he was able to read fluently and asked if he could take the book home to practice some more.\r\n\r\nYour donations have also helped provide additional fluency practice opportunities for my students. These materials give them the extra repetition they need to strengthen the reading skills they learn in their core reading program. With the added practice, students are building speed, accuracy, and confidence. Many of them now look forward to fluency practice because they feel successful and capable.\r\n\r\nFor students in a special education setting, having the right tools can make all the difference. These materials give my students the chance to practice skills in ways that are engaging, fun, and accessible to their individual learning needs. Because of you, my students are not only improving their reading skills, but they are also developing a love of reading and a belief in themselves as learners.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping them grow. Your generosity has made a real and lasting impact on our classroom, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1770682177569,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-library-building/10086751/","projectTitle":"Special Education Library Building","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Binam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10429972_orig.png?crop=162,162,x14,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770391240336","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10429972"},{"teacherId":4634604,"projectId":9405887,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! My students learn best when they can touch, build, and explore, and these tools are already helping them deepen their understanding in a fun and meaningful way. They love having hands-on materials that make math feel exciting and accessible.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has brought so much joy and enthusiasm into our room. With your donations I was able to purchase kindergarten leveled books for my students to read. The books that were purchased have beautiful pictures in various genres at the beginner level needed to engage kindergarteners. I wish you could've heard their excitement when I pulled the books out for the first time. They felt like \"real\" readers. They were able to read the sight words and blend the other words to decode. Some of the trickier words have supportive illustrations so they can figure the word out. \r\n\r\nThe impact to help our students develop a passion and love for reading at a young age will last for years to come! Because of you, our classroom received the Hand2Mind Advancing Phonics Word Work Small Group Set and it's already making a difference in my students' learning and confidence.\r\n\r\nThe phonics magnets and manipulatives have become a key part of our daily routine. We're using them to build blends, digraphs, diphthongs, CVC and CVCC words, work through word ladders, and reinforce letter sounds. One of our favorite activities is reading short books together, then using the magnets to build highlighted words from the text. \r\n\r\nFor many of my students, especially those who struggle with writing, these materials have created new opportunities for success. They allow students to physically interact with language and make building words accessible. The tiles, sound boxes, and tactile tools support engagement and skill-building.\r\n\r\nBut more than that, I see joy in my classroom. I see students who are motivated, focused, and eager to participate. They cheer when they finish a word, smile when they sound something out correctly, and ask to do it again. That kind of confidence is priceless!
