They have been received with enthusiasm by my 5th and 6th graders and made a significant difference in their day to day learning.\r\n\r\nThe graphic novels helped my lower readers find independent reading material that is appropriate for their Lexile level and provides them context clues for what they are reading about through pictures. Students have brought their books over to me to ask what unknown words said or meant and I have been able to direct them to these other details for them to surmise the meaning on their own. Not only that, but the humor of these books has given them a hook to draw them into reading. My more advanced readers are thrilled by the book sets of series we had started reading in the past, and that they now have the opportunity to further explore those worlds. \r\n\r\nThe PE supplies will allow us to pursue new units and teach new skills than we had previously been unable to. For example, we had 4 tennis rackets in our gym closet, not nearly enough for a whole class, and we had no tennis balls.
