During a makers session, one group used the markers to write inventory directly on the bins so peers could restock supplies between rotations.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials they were thrilled — several exclaimed that it finally felt like \"our\" art corner because they could arrange and label supplies themselves. One memorable moment was a pair of students carefully decorating a set of rocks for our \"rock friends\" project, then using the markers to sign each keepsake pillow they made for a class celebration. I am amazed at how engrossed in the books they are getting and how creative they are with the different types of activities I have assigned them. \r\nThey are becoming familiar with the different book genres, subjects and writing styles. Many have started to collaborate with each other about how to inspire others into reading their books. \r\nWhen making real life connections to things done in class; students are more apt to retain the information they have learned. This allows them to grow and think about trying new things and increases their desire to learn and share that knowledge. \r\n\r\nYou helped them become engaged with reading and learning about another culture helping to expand their interest and knowledge.
