They keep asking: \"How did the sand turn purple? This is awesome!\". It is wonderful to see students make connections with each other as they open up while engaging in the play with sand. \r\n\r\nThe feeling chart and calming posters have been a hit with all students accessing the talk corner while discussing challenges, problems and how to handle these. Students are using the posters to identify how they feel, coping skills they actively use and a curiosity to try new coping skills. \r\n\r\n\r\nOn of the next steps is to implement the sensory tubes into mindfulness lessons and self-regulation groups. The sensory tubes help students to ground when feeling distressed and slow down their breathing, thinking and responding. We had been seeing decreases in our older kids purchasing from the store, which defeats the purpose of having it! \r\n\r\nWhen students are excited for the items in the store, the motivation to earn the tickets decreases.
