Philip Randolph Campus High School. Your generosity has already transformed the way my students learn and collaborate.\r\n\r\nThe moment the boards were installed, students immediately got up from their desks and gathered around them. Students who are usually quiet during math discussions now share ideas, revise their thinking, and build solutions as a group. The energy in the room shifted instantly.\r\n\r\nWe now use the boards daily as part of our Building Thinking Classrooms routines. One of my favorite early moments happened during a challenging trigonometry task: a group realized they had made an error, erased the entire board, and rebuilt their reasoning together laughing, debating, and supporting one another. That kind of productive struggle rarely happens on paper, but the boards made it feel natural and safe.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to incorporate the vertical boards into the curriculum from the very beginning of the school year, using the boards as the foundation for how students collaborate and problem‑solve. Starting the year with these routines will help students build strong habits of discussion, movement, and shared reasoning right from day one. The boards will be central to how we launch our first unit , building the routine throughout the entire school year.\r\n\r\nThank you, Mr. Fudge, for believing in my students creating a classroom where movement, collaboration, and deep thinking can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1773416092295,"projectUrl":"project/vertical-white-boards/9932855/","projectTitle":"Vertical White Boards","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1580112"},{"teacherId":4292589,"projectId":10278441,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the cleaning supplies. My students use the comfortable seating during independent reading, small group instruction, and as a calm space to reset when they need a break. One moment that stood out was during our reading workshop—students who usually struggle to stay focused were fully engaged, curled up with a book and eager to share what they were reading afterward. It created a sense of comfort and ownership that has made a real difference in their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They couldn't believe the space was for them. Many immediately gravitated toward the cozy corner, asking if they could read there or just sit and relax for a few minutes. It instantly made our classroom feel warmer and more inviting, and students have been more motivated to participate in activities because of it.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build routines around the cozy corner as part of our literacy and social-emotional learning. Students are working on independent reading goals, reflecting on their reading in journals, and using the space to practice mindfulness strategies when they feel overwhelmed. Next, we plan to incorporate partner reading and small discussion groups in the cozy corner to strengthen comprehension and communication skills.
