School starts at 9:00 a.m. and we are at the rug sitting around the edge of it for a Morning Meeting at about 9:57 a.m. right away. Our \"Morning Meeting\" is our dedicated time to gather and share. This is done daily to always share and help each person in our class feel valued and important because we are a \"family\". Kids love this moment when they get to stand up at their turn and use a real microphone to share and be heard! The beautiful rug helps kiddos know exactly where to sit in a rectangle along the edges of the rug, it's our place.\r\nAt 10:15 kiddos are sitting at the rug again on their \"learning circles\" as the rug is black with white circle swirls where kiddos can sit so everyone has a spot and knows they are an important part of our classroom! We use our rug while I am teaching whole group reading skills using slides on the whiteboard. During our reading time students love sitting on the comfortable material as they do \"partner reading\" to practice reading skills and become fluent readers.\r\nThe rug continues to be our meeting place after lunch and recess for our \"Teacher Read Aloud\" time that the students love daily and look forward to always! This beautiful calm rug is so helpful during whole group math while students use whiteboards and markers to practice math skills and equations on, they sit so comfortably on the rug on their \"learning circle\"!\r\nWe use this beautiful rug as our special place for so much learning everyday! We will continue to use it daily and I hope to continue to have it for many future first graders!!!","fullyFundedDate":1729819209175,"projectUrl":"project/our-special-space-for-learning-rug/8449902/","projectTitle":"Our Special Space for Learning Rug!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cortez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9566821_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720486838711","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9566821"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52423","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":314,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":51.9,"schoolId":52423,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about A.H.
