Even when communication is challenging, they approach every activity with excitement, humor, and heart — and every small success truly feels like a big victory.\r\n\r\nHow we are using the new resources:\r\nThe books have quickly become a central part of our sessions. We use them to build vocabulary, answer questions, and practice retelling stories. The toys and hands-on materials are incorporated into play-based therapy, allowing students to practice requesting, turn-taking, and social interaction in a natural, motivating way. The dot markers are being used during craft based activities targeting requesting, following directions, and descriptive language. The storage cabinet has transformed our space, keeping materials organized and easy to access so sessions can run smoothly.\r\n\r\nStudents' reactions:\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students' eyes lit up as they explored the new toys and books, and many were eager to try everything right away. Several students requested items using their words or communication devices, a powerful reminder of how motivating engaging materials can be. The plush toys, in particular, quickly became favorites and are now used as \"conversation partners\" to practice greetings, emotions, and storytelling.\r\n\r\nNext steps:\r\nThese resources are helping us move into more advanced communication goals. We are working on expanding from single words to phrases and sentences, improving comprehension, and strengthening social communication skills during group activities. My goal is to help students generalize these skills beyond the therapy room so they can communicate more confidently in their classrooms, at home, and in their communities.\r\n\r\nYour support has created a calm, structured, and engaging environment where every student feels encouraged to use their voice, whether they are learning to express needs, share ideas, or connect with others. Because of you, my students are gaining not just new materials, but new opportunities for independence, confidence, and meaningful communication. Thank you for believing in them.","fullyFundedDate":1767895258317,"projectUrl":"project/speech-in-bloom-organizing-a-space-for/9854267/","projectTitle":"Speech in Bloom: Organizing a Space for Communication Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10327724_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761175392805","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10327724"},{"teacherId":2571130,"projectId":9758687,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in supporting our project, \"A New Classroom, Where Every Student Belongs.\" Your kindness has truly helped bring our classroom to life and has made a meaningful difference for each of my students.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, we now have a printer that allows me to create and print essential resources right in our classroom, including individualized behavior modification materials tailored to meet my students' unique needs. The Velcro and laminating paper have helped put everything together—transforming these resources into durable, hands-on tools that my students can use every day.\r\n\r\nOur students are having so much fun practicing their social skills and matching skills while working with the many engaging puzzles you provided. These activities support learning while also encouraging collaboration, turn-taking, and confidence. In addition, the adaptive crayons have made writing and fine-motor activities more accessible and enjoyable for all learners.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite new spaces is our cozy corner, where students are loving the yoga mats as they relax, reset, and practice self-regulation skills. This calming area has already become an important part of our daily routine.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a classroom that is welcoming, inclusive, and designed to meet students where they are.
