By recognizing and celebrating students' achievements, we build positive relationships and trust, which improves students' behavior, focus, motivation, and engagement. As a result, my students feel more comfortable in class and are more willing to participate. PBIS encourages students to develop self-management skills by helping them recognize and repeat positive behaviors.\r\n\r\nOur goal is to foster a multi-sensory educational experience that meets our students' diverse needs, interests, and abilities. We recognize that our students are unique, as they belong to one of the most vulnerable populations in the Bronx, NY. They are part of District 75, a special education district in NYC that promotes positive self-awareness and provides social-emotional support to help develop academic, communication, and life skills for maximizing individual student growth and independence. As a District 75 teacher, I am committed to delivering high-quality education that empowers our students to become socially responsive lifelong learners and active participants in their communities.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation to fund our school's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) store. It provides hands-on opportunities to connect with plants through textures, scents, and colors. They enjoyed seeing the fruits and vegetables grow in the raised garden beds.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were curious about how to make the garden. Students were taken on a community walk to home depot to collect soil, plants, and paint for the raised beds. Moving forward, we plan to continue to incorporate the garden into lessons on science, sustainability, and life skills allowing students to take ownership by watering and observing changes in the plants. This sensory garden has truly enriched our school community and given our students a meaningful way to connect with the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1713964792097,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-garden-in-the-bronx/8251228/","projectTitle":"Sensory Garden in the Bronx","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9465386_orig.jpg?crop=691,691,x151,y96&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707498671465","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9465386"},{"teacherId":9465386,"projectId":8362520,"letterContent":"The task box system has transformed our speech room by providing structured, hands-on activities tailored to the needs of our students.
