My Students
I currently serve first grade students, where 99 percent of them are from a low socioeconomic background. They receive free and reduced breakfast and lunch, which they have been able to continue to pick up due to school closures. They are very eager to learn and they make our time in the classroom exciting.
This pandemic has taught us a lot; we need technology!
Our schools were shut down and we were unable to retrieve items from our rooms not knowing how serious this virus would be and how inconvenient it would make teaching in the classroom. I haven't been able to assist my students with their work in the capacity in which I would normally.
My students are currently receiving paper copies of work and I'm not able to assist them by modeling like I would in the classroom.
My Project
Having an iPad will assist in modeling lessons for my students who really need help with learning packets. We took a survey to see which students had access to technology at home and there were a few students who did not. Providing an iPad for myself and for them will help with distance learning through Zoom or Google Meet. We will be able to do activities together and facetime.
Students at a disadvantage will now be able to keep up with their peers.
I will be able to schedule one on one learning with struggling students and it will also keep their attention. I can assign simple projects or activities that they can do on the iPad and send to me or share with their peers.
