Zooming Math Lessons - with Great Sound and Visuals
Help me give my students access (during distance learning) to clear and easy to understand lessons with a microphone and hand-written mathematical explanations with the help of a graphics drawing tablet.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom, they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology-infused lessons. Every day, they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcoming their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.
Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.
They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.
Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.
My Project
During these difficult times, it is vital for teachers to grab the attention of their students during distance learning. The Miami-Dade District has decided to reopen schools virtually. This forces teachers to grab the attention of their students in new and innovative ways.
It is desirable for students to have access to great sounding Zoom calls that are informative.
For this reason, I am requesting a microphone to reduce background noise and making my zoom calls crystal clear and easy to follow. I would also like to provide my students with clear mathematical explanations that can be more effectively accomplished on screen with the help of a Graphics tablet.
