This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine your first year of school. Little ones walk into their classroom with exciting expressions and hearts full of joy. Most of the students do not know how to read or write or know their numbers but are eager to do so. I am setting the foundation for many years to come. My goal is to give young learners a nurturing, caring environment while teaching them literacy and numeracy integrated with science by using innovative technology, as well as, gain the confidence to become academic leaders in the future.

My Project

My students love to play and need opportunities to help extend their math, social skills, and social studies through the use of dramatic play with a garage and cars. The kindergarteners will use the garage to practice sorting colors and adding and subtracting cars all while playing. My students will have the ability to use the garage to reinforce these skills through the use of choice centers. Students will also be able to practice social skills and work on sharing and verbalizing how to get along with each other. By having a dramatic play garage, my students will have the ability to practice our common core skills, yet have fun in the process. This dramatic play station will allow my students to be able to focus on increasing their learning in many areas through guided play!
