More than half of my students are on an Individualized Education Plan, but we do not let our diagnosis define us. We overcome challenges together and appreciate the uniqueness in every person. In all areas, it is our goal to gear up for success. Students learn goal setting, evaluating their own success, assessing their personal growth, and learning and reflecting on objectives and how to make new goals. Students are set up for success not only in the classroom but for life.
My students are engaged in STEM to master state standards, build social skills, and build awareness of careers.
My Project
Help me bring animals and biomes to life as we learn about animals in their habitat in zoom meetings. Students will listen to books about the zoo and then work together to sort animals by biomes. Students will have the opportunity to create their own biome shoeboxes with their families.
Students cannot physically go to the zoo but activities delivered to their porch will allow students to explore the zoo and share their findings on zoom.
Students will have baggies of kinetic sand and various animals dropped off on their porch. While on zoom students will share their animals and discuss biomes. Students will work together to sort animals according to biomes and analyze features that help animals survive in their habitat, and write non-fiction stories about the zoo. As other zoo projects are funded students will be able to take virtual trips to zoos and skype with zookeepers on all 6 continents. For a fun, creative activity students will be able to design their own zoo and own creative animal with their unique biome.
