Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I school in a low socioeconomic neighborhood, and 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many parents work two jobs and are barely able to support the family.
I have a bunch of awesome students who can't wait to come to school every day!
All my students are English language learners with no resources available at home. They often come to school without the supplies needed to be successful. Our school is a safe place for many of my students where learning is a priority.
My Project
My students and I have been home for more than two months and we have been adjusting to our new norm of school. We have Zoom sessions weekly and we all tried to do the best we can. Sometimes it is hard to stay focused or find a quiet place at home during our meetings. Currently, I am using a box to stand my computer. The box is getting old and starting to bend to one side. The laptop stand will hold my computer so that it would be easy to see my students while I am teaching. The power strip outlet and cables will be used to charge my computer, phone and printer. I get texts and calls from my students and parents throughout the day, and I need to have all my electronic devices charged and ready to use. The computer case will be used to protect my computer from accidents. The chart paper is needed to create anchor charts for students struggling to learn at home. I want to give my students every resource I can to help them learn at home and to not fall behind.
