My Students

As a teacher in a low income/ high poverty school, my students with special needs are faced with challenges in and out of school. Most of them receive free breakfast and lunches. We have a diverse population of refugees.

Despite their physical and social challenges, I believe that they will always be an important part of society.

I am looking at providing them with simple and meaningful learning activities that will help them later on in life.

Each of my students has an individual disability with unique needs. Our school is located in an area of diversity and our students typically come from lower income families and have difficult obstacles to overcome at home. As staff members of this special education classroom, we try our best to nurture our students and fill any voids that they lack in their home lives.

My Project

Education has changed so much. My struggling readers will benefit from a C-pen reader. This pen will read to them while they follow the text visually. My social story books, photo conversation cards and other social skills instructional materials will improve students' communication with peers and adults, improves cooperative teamwork, and helps them become effective, caring, concerned members of their communities.

The bean bags have provided comfort to my students who struggles with posture and needed support while sitting.

I have children in wheelchairs and they need that support so they can get out from the wheelchair for some time during the day.
