My school is a public charter school providing students (learners) in grades 6-8 a hands-on STEAM, aerospace-focused and project-based curriculum. We are the first school in the nation to be located right at an airport in Englewood, Colorado. Our learners come from all over the Denver area, from Franktown to Aurora to Arvada and beyond. This diversity brings different perspectives to our classrooms. Some of our learners have been homeschooled and some are just looking for a different type of school and have found their home at CSA!
Our learners are creative thinkers and very excited about learning!
Our curriculum focuses on core academic competencies, in addition to key focus areas that will prepare learners for promising careers in aerospace and technology. I will be team teaching with the science teacher to provide this PE elective in addition to teaching Exploratory/STEAM.
My Project
Remote learning has been tricky for everyone. One of the biggest things I noticed in March when we were sent home was how much my body hurt from sitting all day and looking at a computer screen! YIKES! I am used to walking around checking in with students and barely sit when at school. We are on ZOOM daily for lessons.
This chair will make learners have more time with me so that I can give them more one on one instruction.
The standing desk will make it so I can move around and still provide them instruction. Once in person, the desk can be used to move around from group to group and support groups instead of going back to my desk area. While teaching PE without a Gym, the standing desk can be used to go outside for attendance and music to motivate the learners. More time for active student learning!!! WIN WIN!
The chair will allow the sitting for hours at a time to be easier than it has been. I want to be able to give feedback to learners outside of the time we are on ZOOM together, all that means sitting at a desk much longer than I have been used to. My back will be 'saved' thanks to you!
The charger will be to keep an iPad charged during remote learning so I can use the iPad as an additional monitor for ZOOM lessons. Having the chat box, participant list, as well as sharing my slides during ZOOM are difficult if only using one screen. The blue screen will allow less glare and less headaches with extra time on the computer so that leaners will receive more feedback on their work.
