This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our typical day of kindergarten is unlike any other. We are problem solvers ready to fix any situation that is at hand. Our students are excited to create a zoo in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles, so that people that live in the city can be transported to a different surrounding.

My students are a driven group of kindergarteners.

They are curious for more in every subject but especially in science. They are so easily fascinated, which encourages me to want to bring more to the classroom. Our school is a Title I school in Los Angeles that is driven by project-based learning as a core principle in our everyday teaching and learning.

My Project

My kindergarteners will be using the nonfiction readers to research. The notebooks will be to write about different animals in different habitats. The craft materials will be used to create models of different animals. Our end project will be using our research and creativity to create a class zoo, which we will present to the Mayor.

This donation will improve our classroom by bringing in something that the students can take ownership of.

They will have their research notebook like a real zoologist. Also, they will be collaborating with fellow kindergarteners to create a zoo.
