This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The new school year will begin this August and I just want to make sure that my incoming sixth grade students don't need to worry about basic supplies. Organization is the key to success in any facet of life. In my advisory and enrichment classes, I will be teaching the students about financial literacy by focusing on budgeting, spending, saving, and setting financial goals with their "money". They will earn money by completing tasks and then learn how to manage their personal finances. My students will need a place to store their work and these binders allow them to save all the materials that they will need to learn about being financially responsible. These binders will help the students keep their papers safe and easily accessible. These students also have three classes each day in three different locations. They will not be allowed to bring backpacks to school and no one will have a locker, but they still need to keep everything for all their classes. Even having a binder, their papers still seem to get lost.
Zipper binders are a great tool to help students get organized and keep them from losing their school supplies and important papers.
Many of my students can't afford to purchase these types of binders and so this project will allow me to help some of my more disorganized students become more successful in school. Ultimately, I would like to be able to give each student on my team that wants one, a zipper binder.
