This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Drawing, painting, and creating is a personal thing. With all the electronics and entertainment in everything our children see and do it is nice to just sit and be still while creating something beautiful. Zentangles offers just that to my students.
My students are creative and imaginative children at a title 1 school that is part of a Title 1 district.
In art they have the chance to forget about their home lives and work in other classrooms. They have a chance to express who they are and how they feel about the world around them.
My Project
My students need fine tip black markers and drawing paper to create Zentangles and learn to relax while drawing. I am working with my students on how art can be a calming task (one that many struggle with) The way we are working on this is with Zentangles, complex designs using patterns and lines. These activities require students to sit, relax and focus on their lines. We forget about where we are and who is around us. For this projects students will be creating Zentangle designs.
With cellphones, Internet and TV at our fingertips it is hard to be just still.
For our children this is even harder. This project promotes being still and focus on just you. This is a life skill through art.
