My Project

As educators, we know that some of our students have significant social-emotional needs that must be addressed. I selected materials for the Zen Den project to help my students have a safe space where they can decompress, conquer anxiety, reduce stress, and learn the importance of self-care. Students will have access to self-care kits that will include a journal, lotion, hand sanitizer, stress balls, art therapy materials, and positive affirmation cards.

Research indicates that self-care promotes better health and mental well-being.

Self-care requires regular practice to make lasting, long-term changes to thoughts and feelings. A teenager's life can be hectic and stressful. Between homework, tests, navigating social circles, and relationships can negatively impact their mental health. In order for self-care and positive affirmation techniques to be effective, students need to fully understand why they are essential. The goal is to help ensure students have the social-emotional support that they require to have a successful school year.
