This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First-grade students are at a crucial stage in developing self-regulation and social-emotional skills. Many students come to school with varying levels of emotional awareness and resilience, and some may struggle with anxiety, frustration, or sensory overload during the school day.

Without appropriate strategies or a safe space to calm down, these emotions can lead to behavioral issues or missed learning opportunities.

A calming corner provides a proactive, research-based way to help students regain control and re-engage with learning.

My students deserve to manage big feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
