My Students
My students come to class ready to learn, excited to talk about what they are discovering, ready to try new things. They want to be challenged. They want to discover new things on their own and with their peers. They want opportunities to problem-solve.
My students range from grades Kinder through 5th grade, which means not only a variety of activity levels but different sizes of students, too!
In our active classroom, we need a variety of places to work. We need quiet corners to work individually, as well as, places to collaborate and work with others.
My Project
Bodies were made to move; especially young, active bodies! It is unreasonable to expect elementary students to sit still at their desks for hours and stay focused on their lessons.
Providing non-traditional seating choices in my classroom will allow students to wiggle, move and release pent up energy without disrupting others as everyone engages in learning.
Exercise balls and stability balance discs enable movement and proper posture. Fidgeteez chair bands permit students to kick their legs and burn energy while quietly sitting in their chairs. Yoga mats provide students the option to sit on the floor in a designated workspace. Offering my students a variety of seating options will keep their young bodies active and their minds engaged and focused.
