Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We teach a diverse group of 5th graders from urban centers in the Bronx. All of the students in our school work hard to to uphold our Core Values. This year will be challenging as we all continue to balance in school and remote learning due to Corona Virus. We want our students to make huge strides in their education this year. As a community, we are committed to being STEADFAST in sticking to our goals. We are resilient and we can do anything together.
My Project
This year is different from any that I have taught before. As the remote teacher, it is important for me to send words of encouragement and warm sentiments home often. It allows my students to know that I care and want them to be successful. Sending these notes home also encourages my students to write back to me increasing their exposure to the lost art of writing without the use of technology. My students have said in the past that the notes they receive make them “feel special” and remembered.
