Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 6th grade English and Social Studies. My students come from many different backgrounds with more than 75% receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many of them come from single-parent households and struggle financially. I want the best for their education and don't want any of them to feel left out, so many times I use my own money to provide them basic school supplies.
Now that our district is 100% Distance Learning, I feel that I am not adequately prepared to provide them the quality education that they all rightfully deserve.
My laptop is over 10 years old and have many issues. The students have said that my voice comes out muffled and that they can't understand what I'm saying half the time. I borrowed a Chromebook from my school, but a Chromebook is limited in it's functions and ability. I would love to purchase a reliable laptop to create quality digital lessons and more importantly to be able to communicate with all of them.
My Project
My personal laptop is over 10 years old and is very unreliable. It usually takes about 5-10 minutes to open an application so I often have to open up the tabs I need before class starts, just to make sure I have it ready.
I need something more reliable because my students are all relying on me to provide them with quality instruction.
There are so many fun and engaging resources. I would love to be able to take them on virtual field trips or play online games, but my device can't handle it. With your donation, I can provide them with interactive lessons they all rightfully deserve.
