Hello!
I am a special education teacher who teaches high school students having severe/profound special needs in the Chicago public school district.
My classroom curriculum is based on functional academics and life skills. We are so very fortunate that today so many wonderful products and curriculum materials are made especially for students having severe to profound disabilities. What is unfortunate is not having the ability or resources to obtain these products that will ultimately be able to enhance the lives of my students.
In order for my students to achieve success, there are certain resources that I would need to help them reach their full potential.
I would like for my students to be able to have access to curriculum materials, technology and communication aids that can provide them with the necessary and beneficial social interactions and independent functioning they need to thrive in their world.
In this proposal the technology that I have included consists of computer software that would allow my students to practice writing letters, journal, make choices and would expose them to reading through interactive stories.
In this proposal the curriculum materials I have included will focus on money math, learning patterns and numbers, working with plants and holiday activities.
