My students need Apple iPads to practice reading and math intervention skills, complete AR reading comprehension tests and begin developing early research skills. They also need and cases to keep their ipads safe during use.
Do you know what makes our school the best place in the world? Other than the rock star teachers and creative little learners, it's the community that surrounds us. It's our classroom community, our school community and our small little community where we all live and support each other. My students come to school excited to learn about and explore their world every day! Our school is the only elementary school in our small town, so we really are a tight-knit family. That means if our students need something, we work for it. If they make a mistake, they learn and grow from it. And if we can make our learning more meaningful and fun, we do it! Our students come to school excited to learn about and explore their world every day! However, back in August, many of our students and staff were exposed to a world they've never seen. Our community slowly began to disappear under water. Hurricane Harvey impacted many of our lives, but wouldn't know the loss by my kiddos’ bright and shining faces, the perseverance they show, or the kindness and friendship they pour from their hearts!
My Project
Our students need iPads to increase 21st century skills related to the use of technology and enhance their knowledge and skills in real-life situations such as researching, collaborating, and presenting. This task of infusing technology effectively into the classroom can be challenging; however, with the passion and motivation of our students, I can guarantee a seamless transition from costly paper-filled classrooms, to a student-directed, instant feedback learning environment. Our students would also be able to engage in many interactive STEM activities. Our students work very hard on applying their weekly hands-on learning activities within their technology application rotations. They apply knowledge they have gained to research new facts, engage and practice math skills, take reading comprehension tests, select e-books to read and have them presented in an audio form as well.
