it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of my biggest heartaches is the struggling side effects of the mental health of my students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our students have faced so many challenges of isolation which has now made it so difficult for them to regulate their emotions in a healthy way. The need of a dedicated space is needed to allow students to gather their emotions safely and calmly so that they can continue their positive journey of learning. My goal is to allow the students to understand that their feelings are valid by giving them an area in the classroom to decompress and center themselves so that they are able to communicate their wants and needs in a safe loved and emotionally supported way.
Introducing a calming corner with bean bags, lamps, aroma therapy, and fidgets will serve as a refuge where students will feel safe to approach their challenges with communication heads on while having a renewed focus and positivity.
