This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach sixth grade math and my student population consist of honors, special education, and English language learner students, many of these students come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school, meaning students come from shelters and lower socio-economic circumstances. I teach four classes consisting of approximately, twenty-three students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens, which were hit very hard by the pandemic.

Basic classroom supplies will give my students a head start in my math class, hopefully to inspire them and make my students feel safe and welcome.

These supplies are to help my students for next year (2025-2026) have an inviting and friendly learning environment to learn and be part of the upcoming school year! The use for the cleaning products will provide the students with a disinfected classroom free of germs. The use of the mathematical motivational posters will hopefully inspire my students. The use of individual whiteboards and markers will help my students express themselves mathematically and the containers where they can store them, will give them responsibility to take of their school items.
