Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach sixth grade math and my student population consist of honors, special education, and English language learner students, many of these students come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school, meaning students come from lower socio-economic circumstances. I teach three classes consisting of approximately, thirty students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens, which were hit very hard by the pandemic.
Basic classroom supplies will give my students a head start in our math class, especially for my English language learner students.
These supplies are to help my students for next year (2024-2025) have an inviting and friendly learning environment to learn and be part of for next school year! The use for the cleaning products will provide the students with a disinfected classroom free of germs. The use of the markers, post-its, and chart paper will make the classroom inviting and the use of the shelves will provide a place for the students to put their books and supplies.
