Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Despite living in the city's second densest neighborhood, my students come to school with smiles on their faces ready to get down to the business of creating, reading, writing, and problem-solving.
My students are eager to learn and motivated to make the world a better place.
They are truly a special group that work collaboratively and independently to meet their academic and personal goals. They aren't scared of challenges and they know the meaning of "productive struggle". Watch out world!
My Project
Last year I discovered yoga and fell in love! I knew that all the benefits I enjoyed from practicing would be great for my students as well. Our school has a lovely grass area where I would like to start teaching them some basic poses. These new mats could be used both outdoors and in the classroom.
The activity cards will help me teach correct alignment while making yoga fun as well!
The sequencing cards can be used in class to help students focus before a task or calm themselves before a big test. The ABC yoga cards will help reinforce the alphabet and teach new poses. I plan on using the Yoga Spots for a fun circuit yoga workout during P.E.
Yoga has really helped me get fit and focused. I know these materials will help me inspire my future yogis.
