Young Writers

Help me give my students tools for practicing their writing. The dry erase boards and lined paper will allow students to build phonics skills and practice writing traits.

My Students

This year I have the opportunity to teach an amazing group of 1st graders. My class is a social environment that allows for diverse learners to learn with many hands-on experiences. My classroom consist of 20 precious boys and girls with a wide range of needs. My students are full of energy, laughter and smiles.

We are a fine arts academy that encourages students to participate and explore the different types of art.

I love to see them learn and express their new ideas with others. They are a great bunch of students that allow me to continue and learn professionally.

My Project

My students need additional resources to use daily to increase skills they are the weakest with and need to be more fluent. They need these resources to help them form letters, words and sentences correctly. We have begun a wonderful writing series by Lucy Calkins and they are in great need of these resources. The handwriting white boards and papers will enhance their work.

Early writing gives children the confidence they need for success with literacy skills.

It will help them understand the correlation between our spoken and written language. Writing doesn't occur naturally so giving students these tools alongside our daily lessons, will increase their motivation to take ownership of their own writing.
