Young Scientists Will Soar With Scholastic Magazine #2
My students need a subscription to Super Science magazine from Scholastic in order to increase their comprehension skills through current events.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Johnson's classroom raised $576
This project is fully funded
My Students
I love to see the expression on my students faces when I enter the class and hear my students say "Yay it's time for science intervention". These children are eager to learn and get very excited when we do experiments.
My students attend a high poverty elementary school in Cleveland, Ohio.
All of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. My students have a love of learning despite their socioeconomic backgrounds.
I constantly focus on my students growth and potential as I'm always encouraging my students that they can do anything they set their mind to do.
My Project
My students will use the Scholastic magazines once a week. "Super Science" allows my students to improve not only their science skills but it reinforces many important reading skills such as reading comprehension, finding the main idea and cause and effect. This magazine also teaches students math skills by using different types of graphs.
This will help my students develop a deeper understanding for science and how it applies to the real world.
This science magazine will make them more excited about learning and expose them to relevant current events.
Students will also get to take the magazines home to share with their families and continue to read outside of school.
