This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher working in a school with high poverty and diverse backgrounds, I am accustomed to seeing my students struggle daily. Whether it is not having school supplies or the tools they need at home to be successful, these obstacles may prevent them from reaching their full potential.
My students are strong-willed, focused, and motivated, and they love math and science!
My students are very active and full of energy. They show me this every day from the moment I greet them at the door in my classroom.
I want my students to be able to reach their full potential. Sometimes I feel I can only do so much in my classroom while they are under my care. Once they go home, I cannot control how they live their lives, but I am hoping I can make a positive impact on them during our time together by giving them the tools they need to make positive choices.
My Project
These materials will provide my students with hands on learning opportunities. Science stations are an excellent way for my ELL students to learn English and deepen their vocabulary. The visuals and hands-on experiences will also support my students that have special needs. Some students are not able to learn by audio, they need a visual representation. Science is about exploitation and engaging in real life scenarios. I want to teach my students that they can be scientists and engineers. I want them to solve problems and help create a better world through science.
