This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have just started discovering the joy of reading and they need a comfortable place to curl up with their favorite book! They also need books to build their literacy skills and confidence.
My students are 1st and 2nd graders who have been diagnosed with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Some students have just begun identifying letters, others are improving their decoding abilities and sight word vocabulary and others are reading at a 1st or 2nd grade level. Regardless of the student's level, my students love looking through books and reading!
My Project
My students need a comfortable place to curl up with a book and leveled books to build their literacy and confidence! Right now, my students are only enjoying books at their tables and desks. With the Read and Relax Book Station, my young readers will learn that reading doesn't have to be an activity they participate in at their desks; It can be a fun activity that they do in their leisure time as well! I want to continue to cultivate my students' love of reading.
