This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are writing novels during National Novel Writing Month, and by the end they will showcase 30 days of writing with an artistic book jacket. This printer, ink, and paper will help them create an attention-getting cover that includes an excerpt, summary, and authors' biography and photo.

My students are young writers in a public school in a big city.

They are an enthusiastic, creative group who love to express themselves on the page. They are going to experience the highs and lows of National Novel Writing Month together, and by the end, they will want to share their hard work with friends and family through creative book jackets.

My Project

This high quality printer/copier/scanner will replace an 8-year-old printer that has given up the fight. With this shiny new printer and ink cartridges, we will be able to publish our best work from Novel Writing Month and share it with our community of writers. We will celebrate the monumental challenge with book talks and readings from our novels' opening pages and best scenes. Students will also be able to create stunning book covers with the art papers and pens.

Students grow as writers when they have an inspiring challenge like National Novel Writing Month.

They will publish their best work and get to create a beautiful book jacket to share their journey. Novel Writing Month is the best time of our year, when they truly get to experience the joys and struggles of the writing life, and their appreciation for published novels grows. These materials will motivate them to revise their first drafts and make their words come alive for an audience.
