Young iYogi's - Creating Yoga Visuals

My students need iPods and yoga resources in the classroom in order to learn about wellness, healthy foods, and exercise using 21st century technology.

My Students

"The greatest wealth is health." I want to provide my students the opportunity to see how much and important health and wellness is to their daily lives.

My students are struggling with wellness, proper nutrition and staying active in their every day lives.

Many of them are subject to very challenging experiences and difficult living conditions. Do you remember learning about eating healthy and exercise? All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. My students live in a food desert, a place where proper nutrition is not a priority. Fresh fruits and vegetables are scarce and nearly nonexistent. For many of my students, daily exercise consists of moving from the school bus to the couch. I want to provide my students an alternative form of exercise to complete in the classroom and in their homes.

My Project

Adding iPods to the classroom learning environment will provide my students the opportunity to learn about wellness and exercise. I want my students to show their learning of yoga by sharing it digitally. I want them to be able to take pictures of themselves completing poses and writing directions for others to follow. They can also use these illustrations and explanations on the weekends to keep healthy. iPods are the optimum way to complete this project. The iPods are small enough to be mobile. They can pass can pictures quickly as their peers show off the yoga poses we are going to learn. They are able to take wonderful pictures. My students can email them to themselves and others. They can print the pictures digitally to a printer and have them instantly. They can share the pictures wirelessly with our classroom projector. The health and wellness possibilities are endless.

My students lack proper health and wellness role models in their daily lives.

I want to provide them an opportunity to learn yoga, become their own role models, and then share their knowledge with others.
