My Students

As a freshmen teacher, I love the newness and innocence in which they view the world; they still have inquiring minds not quite beaten down by cynicism. They have had a rough year after suffering through Hurricane Harvey and losing friends and community members in tragic ways. In spite of all of that, they are brilliantly motivated to succeed. Their determination to rise above difficulties is a motivation. This project can help give them the tools they need to succeed.

My Project

Research proves that students who read independently are more successful than those who don't. Students who "don't like to read" simply haven't found the right book. I want to provide a plethora of high-interest novels that will engage every student. If a student can find a book they love, they open up a world of intrigue and imagination. I want to watch my students find their new worlds! This project has books from different reading levels, subjects, and genres. Every child deserves to read something that motivates them to succeed and that has characters that they can relate to.
