My Students

I teach K-8 art at an urban public school. My students are diverse and the majority of students come from low income families. Many of my students face daily psychological trauma as the result of poverty and unstable households. At least 35% of the students in my school district are English language learners.

My school district is among the most underfunded districts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

As a result, it has been difficult to obtain the art supplies necessary to provide a high-quality and meaningful art education.

My Project

My students are wonderful artists that deserve the tools they need to make their dreams come to life. Currently, the art room is running low on essential art supplies. My school does not have a supply budget, therefore many of these items I may need to purchase myself without your support. I am requesting 45 sets of oil pastels and 15 sets of Neon pastels because oil pastels are the medium of choice for most students for value drawings, wax resists, and more. Pastels are sometimes preferred over paint due to the easy setup and paint-like results. Moreover, I am requesting 2 Gallons each of the primary color tempera paints and 4 gallons of black tempera paint to yield a supply that should last the remainder of the school year. Finally, I am requesting 4 packs of high-quality drawing paper that can be used with oil pastel, pencil, and paint. These supplies will benefit the entire school, approximately 450 students in grades K-8.

With your support, my students will benefit from an art classroom stocked with oil pastels, markers, high quality drawing paper, and tempera paint.
