My Students
Henry Moore said, "To be an artist is to believe in life,” and George Inness said that "The true use of art is, first, to cultivate the artist’s own spiritual nature.” Help my students cultivate their talent, discover their strengths, and continue on their creative learning path.
I teach visual art in Queens, a melting pot of cultures and languages.
Many of our students are English Language Learners. Art has been my students’ motivating force. They are thirsty for discovery, experimentation, and challenge. I have been witnessing their academic and personal blossoming throughout the years, and I know art played a major role in this. My students’ artwork has always inspired me and instilled in me joy and hope. Their vision, quite often, intersects with my own vision. This wordless communication constitutes a miracle: a deep connection is born at that moment, one that encloses the essence of being alive, and guides us in becoming better human beings.
I will never forget my students' perseverance and participation during remote learning. They excelled, although faced with adversity and emotional trauma. I want to keep challenging them and supporting them in bringing out their very best.
My Project
If you fund my project, you will make a great impact on my students' academic success and emotional well-being. My art projects are designed to promote students' social-emotional learning, through activities that cultivate mindfulness and self-expression.
This project will enable students to express their feelings and ideas about human relationships and emotional bonding.
Moreover, by creating drawings and sculptures of Puebla Storytellers, students will learn about the culture and art of Puebla.
Many of my students have special needs and are tactile learners. My art project involves tactile stimulation, thus supporting all learning styles.
