My students need the Elmo USA MX-1 so I can project live lessons and demonstrate techniques in real time so that everyone in the class can see clearly.
Our small, rural school is nestled in the Ozark Mountains and filled with students that share the same beauty and resilience that surrounds them. Nothing stops my eager bunch from sharing smiles and jokes, and our art room is a place of creativity for grades K - 12.
My students are excited about projects, but miss out on learning techniques because not everyone can see demonstrations and close-up work.
For example, a step-by-step tutorial is impossible to do for the class, as it would have to be repeated multiple times for each table group in order for them all to see it.
For many of my students, this is their only contact with the arts, and I believe they deserve the best opportunitities to match their indomitable spirit and kind hearts.
My Project
Though commonly found in larger schools, our district does not have a document camera.
With this equipment, my students can experience instruction on an unprecedented level - like having a private tutor!
Samples can be enlarged, directions can be given once, and even recorded for playback while individuals receive further instruction (I can be in 2 places at once!)
Our existing equipment can hook up in a flash to the camera, saving still shots for reference, and making their teacher a cut above a YouTube video. In addition, the camera will be useful in the dual credit English classes I teach to advanced Juniors and Seniors. We’ll be able to edit text and have more cohesive discussions without making endless photocopies!
The Elmo combines the best of technology with the heart of creativity and collaboration for my amazing students who are so grateful for any help they receive.
