Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a Title I school. Financial circumstances vary throughout the community. I teach general education, ELL students, special needs students with IEPs, and honors classes. Students range from loving reading and having above grade level lexiles, to 8th graders reading at a first grade level. When students having a friendly and warm environment they are more enthusiastic about learning. My school is very diverse. Students from many backgrounds are taught in a team- style, student-centered environment. Students belong to an A Rated school district.
My Project
The young adult books included in this project will be added to our classroom library for students to read during free choice reading. Many of these book titles are popular book choices for young adults from 2017 and 2018 because it is important to keep updated classroom libraries that students want to use.
"People who are under nourished need good food and readers who are under nourished need good books." (Kelly Gallagher Readicide)
These popular, page turners will get kids hooked on reading and keep the excitement going throughout the year. Students will get to read, share, discuss, and recommend. They can easily access the books in our classroom library. They will be exposed to many genres and topics that interest them and make reading fun!
