My Students
We are a 5th and 6th grade intermediate school. My students are a 6th self-contained group of kids who learn at many different levels. They are with me all day except during lunch and specials. They are a tight knit group that acts as a family to each other. They even get on each other's nerves some days!
We all support and encourage each other to be our best selves.
We work on both social and academic skills throughout the day. My students love hands on activities and really do best when they understand the purpose of each topic. The goal in our class is to minimize the academic gap between my students' achievements and their peers'. With an individualized program such as ours, we are able to make great gains and build on our successes.
My Project
My students will use the markerboard kidney table multiple times throughout the day. It will be a great way to pull students into small groups and practice or reteach concepts. We can practice math problems during our guided math sessions each day. During language arts, we can practice writing sentences, spelling words or even drawing pictures to go along with vocabulary words.
Having a dry erase table is a new and neat way to make learning fun.
It will be an alternative to using pencil and paper and is helpful because rather than being out of their seats to use the classroom dry erase boards, we will be contained to one area. This will be especially helpful to my students. This table will help me to monitor what my students are doing in a quick and concise manner. I am excited to explore all of the ways to make use of this awesome table!
