You Wouldn't Want To Be... Without Nonfiction Books!
My students need nonfiction books to support our social studies and nonfiction reading curriculum. I have requested multiple copies of books from the You wouldn't want to be... series.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Robb's classroom raised $903

My Students
My students cheer when it is time for social studies! They always ask, "What is our project?" and "Where are the books?" Diving into history is not a once a week event but an everyday job in our classroom. Social studies is woven into our read aloud, reading, and writing work.
Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.
We are a large school with a student population of over 1,000. Even though we are a large school, it feels small.
My fifth grade students come from all over the world. Many are English Language Learners who are new to the United States. My students are love to read, construct projects and learn as much as possible.
My Project
The "You Wouldn't Want to Be..." books are colorful and engaging. The book are informative and accurate. Students are placed into the role of deciding whether to participate in the historical event they are reading about. I will use these books to support our nonfiction reading and informational writing curriculum. Students will practice nonfiction reading skills while preparing to write an "All about book" or article about their subject area.
Receiving this donation will put books into my students' hands that will create a love for history and nonfiction reading.
My students will be able to apply reading and writing skills using text made for them.
