My Students
My 5th and 6th grade students live in a small, rural community. They come from various backgrounds and have a multitude of interests. They have one thing in common:
At the heart of each of my students is a desire to set and attain goals; to meet adversity head-on; and to acquire and apply new learning in their lives.
They may be from a small school, but they don't think small. My students strive to learn from the themes in history and literature and apply them to their everyday lives.
My Project
My students need a way to release energy while they work. Bouncy Bands allow students to move while they work quietly. They have been proven to increase time on task and help students with high energy be able to fidget without distracting others. Bouncing also discreetly soothes anxiety, frustration, and hyperactivity. Having a nice place to plop on the floor is also important. Rugs give kids the feeling of home and comfort.
We all like to wiggle while we work, and we all like to find that special spot we prefer to do our work.
Kids are just the same. Students will be able to sit and read and write with focus and comfort.
