You Hear That? We Can With These Cool New Headphones!
Help me give my students headphones that will enable them to access a variety of information and allow them to learn in ways that may not otherwise be available to them.
The students in my classroom come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, speak a variety of languages at home, and have diverse and individual needs. We are a Title I school that works to accommodate the different learning styles of all our students no matter their circumstance. My students are creative, thoughtful, and passionate about learning! That said, the needs and methods of learning vary from student to student.
While there is an abundance of information available, it is not always accessible in a way my students are able to understand.
This inhibits their learning because while some are able to read, many students are continuing to learn and develop these skills. We incorporate a variety of strategies and resources, such as laptops and other forms of technology, to access what we are learning and gain a better understanding of the world. Most recently we have been working on our typing skills and soon will be working on researching different animals.
My Project
These headphones will give students access to online resources, a variety of texts, and an extraordinary amount of information that will support their learning. This technology will also help to develop the reading skills of my students, allowing them to see the words in a story and hear them in a fluid way. My students will be able to have online texts read to them, be able to change the speed at which they are being read, and work at their own pace. Not only will this technology help build confidence with each individual child, but it will also allow for a higher rate of student success
These donations will help my students gain independence in their learning.
They will no longer have to worry about the volume of the learning apps (which at times make it impossible for some students to focus) or style of resources we are using and instead will be able to take full advantage of them. Whether it is listening along to a story, participating in a reading test, or learning to type, each individual student will have the opportunity to do so in a way that helps them thrive.
