This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our elementary school is located in Duquesne City right outside of Pittsburgh, PA. We host students PreK-6th grade from various cultural backgrounds. Unfortunately, many of our students live under the poverty line and lack the home experiences that help them succeed at school.
My students love to play, learn, explore, and create!
As their teacher, it's my job to get them ready for Kindergarten but more importantly, make them love school. It's my goal to provide them with all the opportunities possible to give them the best start in school and in life!
My Project
This classroom mailbox will help my little Pre-K students be organized. Throughout the day we complete projects that need to be taken home. The students are able to find their name, and slide their projects into their mailbox. The only problem is, my cardboard mailboxes are failing apart!
This wooden mailbox is sturdy and will last me for years and years to come!
Mailboxes not only help students learn their name and stay organized, but it also helps them learn other students names! The teacher help each week has to put papers in the mailboxes for me, so in order to make sure everything goes to the right place, students have to learn names. These mailboxes will be a great addition to my classroom!
