Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are my personal book club, they enjoy being introduced to new characters that come from far away places as well as places near and dear to them. My book club learns best when they are able to discuss, debate, and journal about these character. My students are from low-income families where the idea of new and far away places are not a realistic expectation. I'm glad that I am able to introduce the world to them via books

My Project

In my 4th grade ELA class interactive notebooks serve as an "educational journal" for my students. Through this journal, they are able to have colorful and engaging notes that better help then understand the ELA curriculum. They journals serves as an easy tool that that can transport home as well to other class, its a tool that they can use for life.

I often find that when students are not prepared for class it makes them shrink, this project will give all of my students the confidence they need to feel and be successful, which is my main goal as their teacher!!!
