it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in a crime riddled community compounded with poverty and many varied daily challenges. The students I teach are in a special education class for students with learning deficiencies. My students have unique needs and struggle daily with significant communication, social cues and learning needs including reading and math. They work every day on their life skills, daily living skills, and communication.
Each one of my students brings something special into my classroom every day.
I appreciate all the backgrounds, abilities, and personalities my students bring to my class. I am determined to make their school experience the best that I can by bringing in educational yet fun tools to increase their success.
My Project
Today, our students know how to use technology better than even some teachers. I have found out that the use of technology resources throughout the last school year have helped to keep my students grounded. Fortunately we have gotten better in terms of access to technology, however we do not have the necessary accessories to pair with the Chromebooks. Chromebooks are used on a daily basis in my classroom. Students are expected to use Chromebooks during intervention time, to strengthen their skills in various subject areas. While these Chromebooks are helpful, they can also be a distraction without the vital accessories. Providing headphones for each student will allow them to stay on task by drowning out all the background noise and focusing on the sounds they are hearing on their own device while the mouse will help them to better navigate the platforms.
By donating to this project, not only will you will help the students improve their ability to remain on task, but they will ultimately achieve many of their academic goals.
Continuing to use technology will only further prepare our students for the future. If we continue to show the students how we can use technology in a positive way, it will benefit the students in more ways than one.
