This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a K-8 school that draws students from surrounding communities. Each day, 22 smiling and excited faces walk into our kindergarten classroom, eager and motivated to "learn, love, and lead together!"
My bright and friendly students enjoy working and sharing cooperatively throughout each learning activity, lesson or exploration.
Their engagement is seen and heard whether they are challenging themselves independently, participating with the whole class, discovering with a partner, or making connections in a small group.
My role is to provide a safe, nurturing, friendly and accommodating environment where each child's social, emotional, and cognitive development is a daily priority. My students thrive in our classroom and together, we "learn, love, and lead!"
My Project
My students love writing and reading what each of their classmates have written. Their favorite part is putting all of their writing together to make class books to put in book boxes for our classroom library.
A binding machine will quickly bind all of the pages the students have written and give them multiple books to read and cherish.
They will enjoy writing and illustrating with colorful paper and cardstock. These materials will make it easier to create enough books for each student to keep one at the end of the year. I can tell them, "you get a book, you get a book, everyone gets a book!"
