This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Let’s be real—who doesn’t love donuts and coffee? I know my 3 year old loved going on donut dates with me (& I loved the coffee!) This project funds pretend donut and coffee accessories for a donut shop dramatic play center in a PreK (3 year olds) classroom.

Can you imagine the preschoolers’ excitement when they see their classroom transformed into a donut shop?

PreK students learn best when they are immersed in real life situations that involve talking & interacting with peers, taking turns, sharing materials, and engaging in authentic imaginative play. In the donut shop, students will role play customers, cashiers, bakers, decorators, dishwashers, and shopkeepers. They will use math when dealing with money; reading and writing when taking orders; science when “baking”; art when decorating; and new vocabulary when speaking.
